Meet the staff - Cooden Beach Hotel in Bexhill

Meet the lovely Ali, who ensures your check-in process is quick and simple. Read her short interview below…

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?

The most enjoyable part of my role over the last four years has been to watch my team grow and develop. The Cooden Beach Hotel has just got busier and busier! During the last year, we have seen the opening of the new Brasserie on the Beach and 41 bedroom refurbishments, we seem to be busier than ever and the Reception team thrive on it. Our main purpose is to deliver an unforgettable experience to each of our guests and offer a welcome that makes every one of them genuinely want to return.

What are your favourite items on the menu?

I simply love brunch and always go for poached hens eggs with avocado and spinach on toasted bloomer, which is very good. It reminds me of a very special time I spent in Australia when my daughter lived out there.  I have to admit I have a very sweet tooth, so it would have to be the salted caramel chocolate brownie if I should go for a dessert, it’s so good!

Which event or time of the year do you love the most?

Christmas Eve is a very special time for me. I love the excitement of preparing for the arrival of our Guests staying for the Festive period! The entire hotel is so exquisitely decorated and guests love everything about Christmas at The Cooden Beach. From the meeting of old friends they may have made in previous years here to indulge in the fabulous afternoon tea, it’s so atmospheric. The feeling of excitement is quite tangible!

What do you like doing outside of work?

I live locally and really enjoy walking on the beach with my two crazy dogs, Dolly and Daisy. My seven-year-old Grandson also loves that his ‘Nan Nan’ lives by the sea!  You can’t beat being beside the sea, even in the winter. I love going down to the beach with my camera, capturing the changing seasons.

Who inspires me?

Outside work I spend time promoting Organ Donation after our family was affected by it. I am passionate about educating others on the dire need for Organ Donors in the UK. Through this work, I have met many amazing people waiting on transplant lists … These individuals are the ones that inspire me every day to be the best I can be and to try and live the happiest life possible!

If you’re checking in at our reception or passing by when visiting our Brasserie or Tavern Kitchen, please say hello to Ali. She would love to me you!
